Fast-moving and growing companies often need to change premises, or take over additional space whilst maintaining access to vital computer connections– and temporary events such as trade shows and conferences often require sophisticated network provision in buildings which are not equipped.

Modern data networks demand high-speed connectivity – from 2048kbps E1/G703 to 10/100Mbps Ethernet, FDDI or ATM/STM at 155 or 622Mbps.

Traditional solutions include leased lines such as 64kbps ‘Kilostream’ or 2048kbps ‘Megastream’ services – but installation prices are high (not to mention on-going rental charges) and not available in all areas.

1. Moving offices or expanding to a new building with CableFree

December 1997 - Cablefree was approached by Myriad Computer Services, a specialist IT recruitment company which due to rapid growth was set to move to larger premises in an adjacent development. A large computer database, connected by leased lines to several regional offices had to be moved - the challenge was to effect the move progressively without disruption to company activities.

Cablefree offered an ideal solution - a free-space communications systems to connect the two buildings with a 10Mbps Ethernet network for the duration of the operation, allowing computer equipment to be moved item-by-item without discernable effect to users – with no leased-line costs or licensing issues to worry about.
