Case Study:
Non-Disruptive Network Connection
by Cablefree
The Problem:
Owning the land on the site, and therefore digging rights, does not
prevent major problems.
The connection of two separate buildings involved major disruption to car
parking and vehicle access areas to the busy distribution centre.
The customer had received a quotation for £46,000 to dig in a fibre-optic
cabling solution.
The Solution:
CableFree Solutions proved an obvious choice, with the line-of-sight path
just of 690m indicating choice of a CableFree1000 system with 1310nm
multimode fibre-optic interfaces to run to the 100Mbps Ethernet switches at
either end.
Installed in less than a working day, CableFree provided a solution
with zero disruption to the busy site traffic and merely the provision of signal and power
cabling from the offices at either end to the roof-mounted systems. A gable-end mounting
at one end solved the requirement to align the beam above the roof top, with the optical
technology removing the concerns of signal reflections which would have rendered a
microwave system inoperative in a comparable installation.
The CableFree Solution was clearly the correct choice for
the company, providing highly-reliable, secure and license-free connectivity
at full 100Mbps speed unmatched by RF, microwave or leased-line options, at
less than half the cost of a
fixed-line fibre-optic installation and with none of the associated disruption.
CableFree Quote:
"Of all the infrared systems I have installed, the
CableFree1000 is by far the most sophisticated and the most user-friendly"
